In MEMORY AND HONOR of:

Sandra Lee Heyman

Sandra Lee Heyman was a math teacher for over two decades who cared deeply about her students and their love of math. As a teacher, she was known for making even complex math concepts accessible to her students, enabling students to expand their limits and capabilities. Sandy was a teacher at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland from 1988-1998. It was during this time that she was responsible for creating and teaching the first Multi-Variable/Differential Equation course in Montgomery County—a class that is still taught to this day. Sandy encouraged her students to explore the potentials of math and science outside of the classroom, including careers in STEM fields. Sandy was also well-liked by her students, and frequently served as a friend and mentor to her students—including long after their graduation from high school.

In November 1998, Sandy unexpectedly and suddenly passed away from complications associated with a rare blood disorder. Her family has created this foundation in memory and in honor of Sandy and to further her legacy.
